Organizations and multi-tenant

How organizations, roles and the MSP hierarchy work in Cloud-PBS: switch between organizations, understand member roles, and manage client organizations as an MSP.

Organizations

An organization (tenant) owns datastores, subscriptions and team members. Your account can belong to several organizations, and everything (datastores, billing, notifications) is scoped to the one you are currently in.

Switch organization

If you belong to more than one organization, an organization switcher appears in the sidebar. Select an organization to see its datastores, billing and team. Actions always apply to the organization you have selected.

Roles

Within an organization, each member has a role:

  • Admin: full control, including inviting members and managing billing.
  • Member: manage datastores and day-to-day operations, and invite members at member or read-only level.
  • Read-only: view datastores, backups and notifications, without triggering or changing anything.

MSP hierarchy

Cloud-PBS supports a managed-service-provider model. An MSP organization sits above client organizations it manages. As an MSP admin you can:

  • Manage your client organizations and their members.
  • Apply your own branding (logo and primary color) so the dashboard reflects your brand for your clients.

This lets you resell and operate Cloud-PBS for your own customers, each in their isolated organization, under your identity.
